Hope Begins Here
Addiction affects many lives, yet it is often misunderstood. This series invites individuals and communities to learn to see addiction — and one another — through compassion, faith, hope, and love.
An invitation to understanding, compassion, and faithful response.
THE FIVE SESSIONS
a journey from understanding… to compassion… to healing… to hope in action — for those impacted, those who serve, and anyone who wants to understand.

Session 1: Body & Brain
Addiction is complex and often misunderstood. In this session, we explore how it affects the brain and body, helping us move beyond assumptions and toward compassion.
Virtue: Prudence — understanding rightly so we can respond with love.
-

Session 2: Mind & Meaning
Addiction is often rooted in deep emotional and psychological pain. We reflect on how trauma, mental health challenges, and disordered behaviors can cloud — but never erase — the image of God within each person.
Virtue: Empathy — recognizing the dignity of each person and responding with compassion.
-

Session 3: Life in Relationship
Addiction impacts more than individuals — it touches families, parishes, and communities. This session explores the relational realities surrounding addiction and our call to respond as one Body.
Virtue: Courage — facing difficult truths and choosing to love anyway.
-

Session 4: Faith & Healing
Deep within each of us is a longing — a thirst for something greater than ourselves. We reflect on that universal desire and how faith grounds us, heals us, and opens us to others.
Faith, Hope, and Love — the gifts that ground us, move us, and open us to others.
-

Session 5: Hope & Action
Those who encounter Christ are never the same. In this final session, we reflect on what it means to live as people set afire — bringing hope, mercy, and love into a world in need of healing.
Justice — recognizing every person as a child of God and responding accordingly.
